The Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs denied Serbia’s claims of meddling in its internal affairs and urged them to adhere to the EU’s common foreign and security policy regarding Belgrade’s stance on Russian aggression towards Ukraine

The Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has refuted Serbia’s allegations of meddling in its domestic affairs and urged the country to adhere to the European Union’s collective foreign and security policies in relation to Belgrade’s stance on Russian aggression towards Ukraine.

According to Censor.NET’s report, the Croatian Foreign Ministry made a statement on this matter as reported by HRT.

The Croatian Foreign Ministry stated that it is unfeasible for a country to seek candidacy for EU membership and reap the associated advantages without openly denouncing Russian aggression and aligning with EU policies.

Diplomatic friction ensued following remarks made by Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman, in which he urged Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to clarify his allegiances and labelled him as a “puppet of Russia”.

The Croatian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Minister Radman asserted Serbia’s non-participation in the European Union’s foreign and security policy concerning Russian aggression towards Ukraine. The ministry underscored that Serbia’s recent declarations further exemplify a purposeful and organized refusal to acknowledge the truth regarding the nature of the events occurring in Ukraine.

The European family upholds certain values, such as adherence to the international order, which has been breached by Russia’s aggressive actions towards sovereign and independent Ukraine.

Hence, the Croatian Foreign Ministry emphasized the urgency for Serbia to promptly conform its policy to the European Union’s collective foreign and security strategy concerning the matter of aggression against Ukraine. Consequently, the EU’s stance can be regarded as aligned with the correct trajectory of historical events.
