The German Embassy responded to Kosovo Online’s inquiries about the closure of social work centres in northern Kosovo, emphasizing the need to dismantle parallel structures while cautioning against the abrupt shutdown of critical healthcare, educational, and social service institutions. They reiterated their support for the EU spokesperson’s views on this matter.
The embassy underlined that while they concur with dismantling existing parallel structures, such institutions should not be closed without establishing viable alternatives. They warned that doing so could adversely impact the daily lives of Kosovo Serbs and other communities.
This response came after Kosovo Police shuttered social work centres in North Mitrovica, Leposavic, and Zvecan on Friday.
