Mehdi Safari, the Iranian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Affairs, has emphasized the importance of finalizing a free trade agreement between Tehran and Belgrade to enhance commercial exchanges between the two nations.
During a meeting with a delegation from Serbia led by Acting Assistant Minister for Economic Diplomacy Jagoda Lazarevic, Safari expressed his comments.
During the meeting, the Iranian diplomat expressed satisfaction with the level of diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two countries, highlighting that the frequent visits of Iranian and Serbian officials provide evidence of the strong political ties between them.
Safari further conveyed his contentment regarding the surge in trade transactions between the two nations in the preceding year, underscoring the urgency to expedite this progression. He advocated for the organization of the forthcoming 16th Joint Economic Commission between the two nations as a crucial measure towards attaining this objective.
He additionally emphasized the importance of finalizing a bilateral free trade agreement between Iran and Serbia in order to enhance and streamline trade activities between the two nations.
Lazarevic, acknowledging the hospitality extended by her Iranian counterpart, regarded Iran as a significant player in Serbia’s foreign policy endeavours.
The speaker further stated that despite notable advancements in the enhancement of Iran-Serbia relations, there exists untapped potential for further collaboration between these two nations.
The Serbian diplomat expressed optimism regarding the potential of the 16th Joint Economic Commission and the finalization of a free trade agreement to initiate a fresh phase of economic and commercial collaboration between Iran and Serbia.
