Italy supports the integration of Western Balkan states into the European Union, the prime minister said. The remarks by Mario Draghi came at a news conference with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama at Chigi Palace, writes dailysabah.com
“The integration of the Western Balkans does not depend on periodic developments. This is in the future of the union. What happened in Belarus does not affect this process, and Italy thinks that this should not affect this process,” he said.
Rama said that he and Draghi discussed the EU membership process for Albania and that Albania is ready for EU membership.
“We have done and continue to do our homework not only for the EU but also for ourselves,” he said. “We are ready to sit on the table when the road opens.”
