Kosovo expands sanctions against Russia, Belarus

by Cristian Florescu

Kosovo has expanded the scope of its sanctions against Russia and Belarus, following in the footsteps of the EU, writes EURACTIV

The sanctions, which were approved by the government on Wednesday, extend to the list of individuals whose assets in Kosovo will be frozen and who are prohibited from entering the country.

It will also shut down any state-sponsored media that spread Russian propaganda.

Earlier sanctions included the freezing of assets of Russian banks, financial institutions and individuals, preventing access to financial markets, as well as other sanctions targeting Russian enterprises and political actors involved in the invasion of Ukraine.

Furthermore, in an interview for the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Kurti condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and its destabilising approach in other neighbouring countries like Moldova and Georgia. He warned that Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic is a “Kremlin puppet who imitates Russia” in his approach within the region.
