A scuffle breaks out in the parliament during the prime minister’s address regarding the government’s efforts to alleviate tensions with ethnic Serbs

A physical altercation broke out in the Kosovo parliament when an opposition lawmaker splashed water on Prime Minister Albin Kurti while he was addressing the government’s efforts to ease tensions with ethnic Serbs in the northern region of the country.

Lawmaker Mergim Lushtaku from the Democratic Party of Kosovo approached Kurti on Thursday while he was speaking and unexpectedly splashed water towards him.

The move resulted in a disorderly altercation as legislators engaged in pushing matches. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries subsequent to the incident.

Previously, Besnik Beslimi, the deputy of Kurti, respectfully tore up a drawing that mocked the prime minister, which was presented by the opposition.

According to local media, Kurti was kindly escorted out of the assembly hall amidst the chaos.

During his years in opposition, Kurti became known for releasing tear gas canisters during legislative sessions, causing lawmakers to wear gas masks due to the presence of unpleasant smoke in the chamber.
