The Ambassador of Russia in Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko received instructions to take concrete steps to support the normalization of the situation on Kosovo.

This was stated by the spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, who added that official Moscow is waiting for Belgrade’s reaction.

“As for the embassy in Belgrade, the Russian ambassador in Serbia, who is in close contact with the Serbian leadership, received instructions to take concrete steps of support, which include normalizing or proposing ways to normalize the situation. We are awaiting Belgrade’s reaction,” she said, as Sputnik reports.

The situation in the north of Kosovo escalated after the arrest of a former member of the Kosovo police, Dejan Pantić. The north of Kosovo and Metohija is blocked both by the citizens and by the police. Serbs have been protesting for the fifth day, and schools in the north will not be open until further notice.

Kosovo police prohibited the passage of both vehicles and pedestrians at the Jarinje and Brnjak administrative crossings.
