According to a report from the Belgrade newspaper “Danas”, the cost of gasoline for consumers in Serbia will remain unchanged until May 2024, maintaining the same level as of November 1 of the present year.
If there are abrupt fluctuations in the market, the government will allocate funds from the national budget to compensate manufacturers and importers for any resulting discrepancies.
This provision is stipulated in the legislation regarding a temporary measure aimed at restraining the cost of gasoline and mitigating the impact of fluctuations in the market for imported or domestically produced natural gas.
According to the publication, the regulation is specifically applicable to the amounts of natural gas intended to be used within the borders of Serbia.
In accordance with the arrangement made between Serbia and the International Monetary Fund for securing a loan, the city of Belgrade has implemented a gradual rise in retail gasoline prices. The most recent increase, amounting to 10 per cent, occurred on November 1st. As a result, the gasoline cost, including taxes and fees, has been reported by Serbian media to be 5.02 dinars per kilowatt hour, starting from this specified date.
In the interim, Bulgaria implemented a transit tariff on Russian gas, resulting in a 20 per cent increase in its cost.
