The Serbian government has chosen the winning bids for its inaugural renewable energy auction
The tender received a total of 16 offers from wind and solar developers, indicating a collective capacity of 816MW. Of these, 11 offers were confirmed valid, amounting to a combined capacity of 739MW.
Unfortunately, the 50MW quota for the solar tender was not reached; however, three developments were still granted support contracts. In the wind auction, the goal of achieving a quota of 400MW was successfully met by four projects, one of which was submitted by Enlight.
The projects will be kindly supported through a contract for difference for a duration of 15 years.
The auction has taken place as a result of a technical cooperation project with the Ministry of Mining and Energy, which was led by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and supported by the government of Switzerland through a generous grant from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs.
The wind was priced at €64.48/MWh, while the solar was priced at €88.65/MWh, which were the lowest rates available.
The interested companies have kindly submitted bank guarantees and cash deposits totaling more than €18m, which demonstrates their sincere commitment to executing the projects.
These results are currently preliminary and will be officially confirmed within the next one to two weeks.
It is anticipated that the upcoming auction will be held next year, and it is planned to have a quota of 300MW.
