According to Goran Vesic, the infrastructure minister, the 26.63-km railway line connecting Subotica in Serbia and Szeged in Hungary will be ready for passenger traffic by the end of October after undergoing necessary renovations.
Vesic mentioned in a Facebook post on Saturday that the Subotica-Szeged railway has been successfully constructed and is scheduled to commence passenger operations in October.
The high-speed rail link will allow trains to reach a maximum speed of 120 km per hour, resulting in a travel time of just 35 minutes between the two cities.
The reconstruction of the railway line is currently being undertaken by a consortium consisting of Russian company RZD International and Serbia’s Karin Komerc. The original completion date for this project was scheduled for November 2022.
