Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the regional initiative Open Balkan will help, among other things, to break Serbia away from Russia, so that it no longer has influence in Belgrade. He said that Serbia should be taken to the EU instead of being left to the influence of Russia, writes Telegraf
“Russia has a clear influence inside, there are some traditional ties. I believe that we should take Serbia with us and not let it go the other way. The Open Balkan helped, as did the attitude to say things, to encourage Serbia to become a part of and to align with sanctions, but on the other hand to understand that it needs time, that is the right attitude,” Rama said during a news conference held in Amsterdam with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
Regarding the Open Balkan, Rama said, he spoke with Rutte and other EU leaders and on that occasion stressed that the Balkans is the most vulnerable part of the link that can be affected and is far from being broken as a result of the war in Ukraine and on the eastern side.
Regarding the French president’s proposal for a new European political community, Rama said that it would bring the Balkans together at the table for discussions on topics of international importance.
