According to Milan Aleksic, the assistant energy minister in charge of the electricity sector, Serbia has expressed its intention to invest nearly 15 billion euro ($16.2 billion) in energy infrastructure in the near future.

Aleksic stated at the CIGRE Serbia 2023 conference on electric power held in Zlatibor that we anticipate energy infrastructure investments exceeding 15 billion euro, primarily in production capacities, transmission, and distribution networks. The energy ministry relaid this information in a press release.

Serbia is committed to achieving its goal of transitioning to renewable energy sources to reduce harmful emissions. They are currently making progress on constructing the Kostolac B3 thermal power plant and a wind farm in the Kostolac municipality. We kindly request your cooperation in supporting our efforts towards a cleaner and more sustainable future for all.

The construction of the Trans-Balkan Corridor is currently in progress. This corridor will connect the power systems of Serbia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, BiH, and Montenegro. It is expected to enhance the transmission network and facilitate better integration of RES. The Trans-Balkan Corridor is a network that connects the electricity transmission systems of Bosnia, Montenegro, and Serbia to Croatia, Hungary, Romania, and Italy through 400 kV overhead lines and submarine cables.
