According to local media reports, Serbia’s state-run Banka Postanska Stedionica is currently engaged in discussions regarding the possible acquisition of a majority stake in Montenegro’s Prva Banka Crne Gore.
According to a report from news outlet Nova.rs last week, the deal would enable direct transactions between bank clients in Serbia and Montenegro.
It is worth noting that Prva Banka Crne Gore managed to achieve a net profit of 62,000 euro ($67,900) in 2022, compared to a loss of 4.5 million euro in the previous year. Based on the information provided on the bank’s website, it appears that Aco Djukanovic, a private individual, holds a 41.46% ownership stake in Prva Banka Crne Gore, while the state-controlled power utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) owns 19.75%. The remaining shares are held by minority shareholders.
