Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, as part of her official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, held a lecture on the topic of European integration of BiH and the enlargement of the European Union at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Sarajevo.
At the beginning of the lecture, Fajon emphasized that Slovenia and BiH have excellent bilateral relations with no open questions and that Slovenia is ready to invest in our country and help it go through the difficult European integration process and the fulfilment of 14 priorities of the European Commission.
She stated that young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also in other countries of the region, deserve to have a perspective in their own country.
“We have made a lot of progress when it comes to the enlargement of the European Union. All these reforms mean a better life for our citizens. All this happened in Slovenia when we joined the Union. We must work together and cooperate to become a European family,” emphasized Fajon.
As she said, each new enlargement of the European Union is more complex than the previous one. She believes that the European Union must be strong, but it is necessary to enable its members, even the smallest ones, to “live their peculiarities”.
“The EU is ready to help, but it must see the initiative from the other side, otherwise we will not get far. I am an optimist that the new government in Bosnia and Herzegovina will use the opportunity presented to it by obtaining candidate status, and do the right things for the future of this country,” Fajon concluded.
