A significant number of individuals were unfortunately injured during a severe thunderstorm in Serbia, and regrettably, one woman lost her life in Bosnia late on Wednesday, shortly following the storm’s devastating impact on Slovenia and Croatia.
In Sremska Mitrovica, located in Serbia’s northern province of Vojvodina, two individuals sustained serious injuries, and approximately 40 others were also wounded by flying debris and falling branches, as stated by local authorities. Unfortunately, a woman lost her life in Bosnia’s district of Brcko, where numerous individuals sought medical attention. Additionally, a severe storm impacted Bosnia’s capital, Sarajevo, earlier on Thursday. In Serbia’s capital, Belgrade, hurricane-force winds caused a crane in a construction site to topple, resulting in numerous cars being crushed by falling trees and branches, according to the country’s department for emergencies. The department further reported that a total of 500 rescuers with 203 vehicles have been deployed across the country to evacuate individuals and mitigate damage caused by the supercell storm, known for its hurricane-force winds, hail, and rain. Tragically, on Wednesday, the same thunderstorm claimed three lives as it initially struck Slovenia and Croatia before moving across Serbia and Bosnia.
