The Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), Nermin Nikšić, met yesterday with the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, John Ginkel, at the Government headquarters in Sarajevo. The meeting was also attended by Nerin Dizdar, the Federal Minister for Displaced Persons and Refugees.

U.S. Support and Partnership

Prime Minister Nikšić expressed deep appreciation for the consistent and substantial support that the United States has provided to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina over the years. He emphasised that the U.S. remains a strategic and indispensable partner for Bosnia and Herzegovina and affirmed his government’s intention to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the coming period.

U.S. Investment and Economic Cooperation

Chargé d’Affaires Ginkel reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to maintaining and expanding its engagement with Bosnia and Herzegovina. He underlined new opportunities for U.S. investments, particularly emphasising the importance of the South Interconnection energy project, which he described as a priority for U.S. strategic interests in the region.

The discussion also covered broader economic cooperation prospects, focusing on energy, transport infrastructure, and the defence industry—areas identified as holding significant potential for American investors.

A New Chapter in Diplomatic Engagement

This meeting marked Ginkel’s first official visit to the Government of the Federation of BiH since assuming his role as Chargé d’Affaires last month. Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue working closely on shared objectives—promoting stability, investment, and Euro-Atlantic integration for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
