The presidents of Bulgaria and Serbia attended the start of construction on the Bulgarian side of the Bulgaria-Serbia gas interconnector.

The presidents of Bulgaria and Serbia, Rumen Radev and Alexandar Vucic, respectively, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bulgaria-Serbia gas interconnector pipeline on the Bulgarian side of the border.

The two heads of state held a meeting with Bulgarian Energy Minister Rosen Hristov and the CEO of gas infrastructure company Bulgartransgaz, Vladimir Malinov. After the meeting, the two presidents were given a tour of the project.

The construction of the Bulgaria – Serbia gas interconnector is a project of strategic significance which offers the region new opportunities for diversification and security of supplies, President Rumen Radev said. He added that the project will help boost the region’s economy and improve energy security.
