The relationship between Serbia and the United States has changed not only because the legitimacy of the Serbian president is unquestionable, but also because Washington sees his sincere commitment to regional peace, security and stability, to dialogue with Pristina as one of the pillars of regional stability, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said, writes telegraf.rs
After talks with US officials Karen Donfried and Gabriel Escobar, which she described as extremely difficult, but also constructive, Brnabic said that Washington recognizes our readiness to make decisions no matter how difficult they are, but such that preserve peace and stability.
“The United States sincerely and openly support the Open Balkan initiative and calls on everyone to get involved, and as a result of all that, our relations have changed, regardless of opposing views Kosovo and Metohija,” Brnabic told TV Pink and announced that in the coming days she expects good news and an additional presence of US companies in Serbia.
According to her, what has changed in the relations between Belgrade and Washington is that they now hear and listen to our side and arguments, despite the fact that they are talking about mutual recognition (between Belgrade and Pristina).
They are more explicit than the EU in that criticism of Pristina and Albin Kurti, for what has not been done, and for their (Pristina’s) insincere attitude, for not forming the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO), for banning Serbs from participating in the referendum, elections, said Brnabic and reminded that the United States also made some moves because of which Pristina abolished taxes on goods from central Serbia and BiH (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
She stressed that Serbia has excellent relations with US companies and that she expects good news on that issue in the coming days.
“That is one thing that connects us and the card we always play. These things facilitate political relations. I think that Vucic appreciates American honesty and openness. We agree that we do not agree on some things, but let’s see what we can do,” stated Brnabic.
She said that she spoke with the US official Karen Donfried yesterday about the economy, the IT sector, about US companies, and that the goal is to position itself as the leader of this part of Europe.
“In the next few days, we expect good news and the additional presence of American companies in Serbia,” said Brnabic and reminded of American companies in Serbia and that one of them should start building a development centre for Europe in Novi Sad by the end of the year.
We have many levels of cooperation with American companies and our diaspora, the association of our people in Silicon Valley – Serbian Entrepreneurs, help us a lot, they founded a fund only for Serbia that will support our innovative startups, said the prime minister.
“That is the card we are playing, and those things also facilitate political relations, especially under such complex conditions,” Brnabic said.
